Though 2011 was a depressing year for Indian market, there were around 43 initial public offerings (IPOs) that got listed on the Indian bourses. In the year 2011, the markets fell 23% till date (December 22, 2011) on global growth worries.
The whole market has been very volatile and negative. IPOs were in full bloom in 2011 but did not leave a very good taste in the mouth. Among 43 IPOs, 28 took away investors' money while 14 gave good returns. However, some companies held their fund raising plans via IPO due to unfavourable market environment.
