Three Sherus handled customers of the Ahmedabad – Navrangpura branch
when all front-line staff
started working from home

Today, we tell the story of three Sherus from the Ahmedabad - Navrangpura branch of Sharekhan who rose to the occasion during the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Two of them, from the branch operations team, and the third, an office assistant, were at the forefront of the branch’s fight against COVID-19.

The branch is one of the bigger ones and it implemented the work from home policy in phases. So the front-line staff started to work from home first. But even when the Relationship Managers and Sales staff started to work from home, the customers kept visiting the branch with various pay-in and pay-out related issues and to drop cheques. That’s when Branch Manager Kunnal Sheth entrusted the help of Maulik Shah, Amit Kadia and Ketan Makwana, and requested them to attend to the customers.

So the three Sherus bravely travelled to work every day in the initial period of the lockdown and not only carried out their own duties but also handled all customers and customer related tasks till the branch closed on March 26. They distributed the additional work among themselves. Maulik took charge of all risk, demat slip, and pay-in and pay-out related work while Amit, an operations executive, answered all client queries received on phone and in person. He showed great skill in handling irate and frustrated customers calmly. Ketan, an office assistant, collected all the cheques and documents from customers.

To protect themselves, they all wore masks provided by the company. Maulik and Amit sat far from each other in an open space in the branch office while Ketan sat outside the branch office. They kept the branch running in difficult times and were the last of the branch staff to start working from home. Three cheers for them. They are all COVID-19 Heroes!
