The COVID-19 Heroes continue to inspire the rest of the Sheru community. Today’s story is about a Sheru whose prompt service to an old inactive DP client caused the client to shift all his business to Sharekhan. Here is how it happened. On May 6, 2020 at 9.30pm Pankaj Shah, Senior Manager, Branch Business, Mumbai - Vile Parle branch, received a call from Devang Kamdar, Business Head, that three trading accounts needed to be activated for an old DP client urgently. The client had three plain DP accounts, his own and those of his wife and son, with Sharekhan which were opened 25 years back with the company’s parent, SSKI Investor Services. All three accounts were inactive but the client was now interested in trading with Sharekhan.

The very next day, ie on May 7, Pankaj called Sales Executive Abhishek Sutar and gave him the lead. Abhishek, in turn, started the process of opening three online trading accounts immediately, and the trading and demat accounts were all opened on May 10.

To support the urgent request, Pankaj went to the branch personally to collect the Power of Attorney stamp paper and DP Link forms. He also completed the forms with the available details of the client and then visited the client’s residence for the signatures of all DP holders. Needless to say that he wore a mask, carried alcohol-based sanitiser and followed social distancing during the visit to the client’s place. Next, he sent the scanned copies to the Account Opening department requesting them to immediately link the DP accounts to the trading accounts so that the client, his wife and son could start trading as soon as possible.

Well, thanks to the prompt action of Pankaj and quick response of Abhishek, the Accounts Opening team, Amit Arora, Head – Operations, and the Operations team including Anand Bharbhaya, Santosh Nemon, Manoj Dhende and Nirvutii Parab, the client and his family could start trading with Sharekhan from May 11. The client sold shares worth Rs.19.20 lakh on the first day itself. The client has his family trading accounts with one of the top brokers of the country but he was so impressed with Sharekhan’s quick and prompt service that he moved all his business and equity assets worth Rs.10 crore to the Vile Parle branch and is thinking of exclusively trading with Sharekhan.
