In the past few weeks, we have heard all kinds of heroic tales of Sherus overcoming COVID-19 lockdown-related challenges with courage and commitment. Here is another such story. On April 7, one of our high net worth clients of the Vile Parle branch in Mumbai had a debit balance of Rs12 lakh and that of Rs9 lakh in his two family margin trading accounts with Sharekhan. The client -- a doctor -- resides in Juhu, Mumbai and runs an eye hospital in the Borivli suburb of the city. All his trading related transactions and payments to Sharekhan are usually handled by his hospital accountant but due to the lockdown his hospital is closed. So the client was unable pay his dues to the company after executing some large trading orders that day. That is when Sheru Pankaj Shah literally drove to his rescue.
Pankaj, Senior Manager, Branch Business, Mumbai - Vile Parle branch, called the client as soon as he learnt about his problem and told him to keep the cheques ready. He then drove down to the client’s home, collected the two cheques and deposited them in the nearest HDFC Bank branch. On his way he was stopped by the police but he showed them his identity card as well as visiting card, and informed them that he worked for a stock broking company and as such was allowed to go out for work by the government authorities. Moreover, in the bank when he was told to drop the two cheques in a drop box, he even persuaded the teller to stamp the cheques as the same were of high value. The client was thrilled and impressed with the personalised service from Sharekhan. Three cheers for Pankaj bhai. He is a COVID-19 Hero indeed!.
