The back-office leads
from the front in Pune

The biggest challenge that our branches are facing in these adverse times has to do with operations. Keeping the back-office operations running with a skeletal staff in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown is itself tough. The job gets tougher when customers start calling in panic every time the stock market fluctuates. In these circumstances, it is heartening to find Sherus like Kamesh Shah, who are making extra efforts to handle irate customers.

Soon after Maharashtra went in a lockdown mode, Kamesh, Manager - Operations, decided to take ownership of the Pune cluster’s back-office issues and be the single point of contact for all branches and business partners under the cluster. Since then he has been playing multiple roles and leading the back-office operations.

What is most commendable is that Kamesh who is otherwise mercurial in nature showed extreme poise when the branch was inundated with calls from customers following the Yes Bank crisis. He dealt with customers’ problems related to Yes Bank shares and auctions, credit and exchange margin funding requirements etc calmly and effectively. What’s more, every day he worked till late in the night, collating data and sending reports to the head office. Of course, he was ably supported by Trupti Keer, Assistant Manager – Operations, and the rest of the back-office team.

In addition, Sherus Krishna Kadam and Sarfraj Siddiqui provided the much critical IT support; managed to divert landlines on mobiles; arranged dongles, laptops and desktops for the staff of the entire Pune cluster so that they could work remotely; and worked round the clock to enable smooth functioning of the servicing teams in the work-from-home mode.

Three cheers for all of them. They are all COVID-19 Heroes!
