Admin team works round the clock
to arrange transport and meals
for employees
Recently when all local public transport services stopped in Mumbai, the employees from the head office who needed to travel to work were naturally worried out of their mind. How would they commute to work and back? As for the employees who had to work from home, there was no way of carrying laptops/desktops home. That is when the Administration (Admin) department literally worked round the clock to meet all their requirements. Their story is inspiring too.
Worked round the clock to arrange transport for employees going to work
On Thursday, March 19, Ganesh Sahoo from the Admin team was quick to arrange for additional buses for the employees who needed to travel to work on March 20. But the bus service lasted for only a day as at Sunday, March 22, midnight, the Maharashtra state government imposed Sections 144 and 138 in the state, cancelling all passenger services till March 31.
It was then that Ganesh, Harmeet Saini, Priyanka Gohil and Dinesh Rajdev worked all Sunday night to find a new vendor, hire 36 cars and ensure the vendor informed all employees of the car and driver details for Monday, March 23. They also saw to it that all drivers stayed at head office locations after dropping the employees at work and followed the hygiene and social distancing guidelines of the company.
Unfortunately, late Monday night the private car vendor backed out due to the strict vigilance of the police on the roads and the Admin team worked another night without sleep to arrange for a new car vendor. Since it was already late and the vendor had to arrange for vehicles and drivers at his end at very short notice and did not have time to inform the employees, the Admin team divided the work among themselves and spent the rest of the Monday night SMSing the relevant details to 138 employees. The following day, ie on March 24, to enable smooth pick-up and drop of their colleagues, the Admin team also provided every driver a copy of the National Stock Exchange order that allowed essential service providers like stock brokers to function normally.
Ever since the four Sherus have been constantly following up with the drivers and the critical head office staff to ensure a trouble-free commute for all. All the employees who are travelling to work these days are full of praise for the four Sherus who have made their commute safe and stress-free.
Delivered laptops/desktops to home of the work-from-home staff
The Admin team also played a key role in equipping employees to work from home. They ensured that every equipment including laptops and desktops given by the IT team was delivered to the work-from-home staff. They braved the police and government authorities to deliver assets to even localities that fell under district block.
Organised meals for employees and drivers
Tripti Barman from the Admin team, on the other hand, took care of the meals. She organised breakfast, lunch and beverages for the employees as well as the drivers. She even saw to it that every employee who worked till late also received dinner on time without any disruption. Right from deciding the menu to following up daily with the caterer, employees and drivers for the daily meals, she did it all.
Ganesh, Harmeet, Priyanka, Dinesh and Tripti are all working from home but you cannot tell the difference. They have made us all proud with their dedication, commitment and hard work. Three cheers for all of them! They are undoubtedly COVID-19 Heroes!
