Clear desk is a practice to protect your workspace while clear screen is a practice to protect information on your desktop/laptop screens. Given below are the risks you face when you do not follow the Clear Desk, Clear Screen Policy.
Unattended and unlocked computers can lead to:
- Exposure of critical information to prying eyes
- Data leakage
- Misuse of sensitive information

Tips to practise the Clear Desk, Clear Screen Policy
- Have a daily routine to organise your workspace and keep it clear of printed confidential documents.
- Ensure information written on meeting room white boards is cleared as soon as a meeting is over.
- Ensure printed documents are collected immediately from the printers, copiers or fax machines.
- Do not save any confidential documents on desktop/laptop screen.
- Always keep your systems locked when unattended, use “CTRL-Alt-Delete/Windows+L key”.
- Always position the screen in such a manner that it’s not easily visible to anyone else.
