Continuing with our efforts to make Sharekhan an aspirational workplace, we are happy to reiterate the organisation’s Dress Code Policy that outlines how we expect our staff to dress at work in order to positively represent our company and our brand. The dress code applies to all staff of Sharekhan and its associate companies at all times when performing work for the company. It is important that all staff conform to the dress code so that we can maintain a professional work environment in the organisation.
In businesses like ours where face-to-face interactions with clients, customers and vendors are the norm, it is important to have a dress code in order to ensure that we present a consistent professional and positive appearance to them. Furthermore, given our hybrid work culture, where the staff work from both office and home/other remote locations, a dress code policy reminds us all of the importance of dressing appropriately for work, and presenting ourselves well in our official meetings and interactions. It also helps promote inclusiveness and equality in the organisation.
Highlights of our Dress Code Policy
- The Dress Code Policy outlines what attire, footwear and accessories are appropriate for and acceptable in the workplace and what are not.
- It recommends business formal as the dress code for all staff with client-facing roles.
- Smart casual is the recommended dress code for all support staff including the work-from-home staff.
- Smart casual is also recommended for company-sponsored events, offsites, corporate social responsibility activities and annual parties.
- The dress code applies to all staff of Sharekhan and its associate companies, including permanent employees, expatriates, fixed-term contract staff, third-party staff and trainee/interns/apprentices/management trainees.
- According to the policy, all third-party contractors who are required to wear uniforms (eg housekeeping or security staff) are expected to be in their uniforms at all times when on Sharekhan premises.
- The policy is applicable on all working days from Monday to Friday as well as the holidays when employees are required to work.
- It applies in all workplaces, whether one is working from any of the Sharekhan premises, home or locations other than a Sharekhan office/branch; participating in official virtual meetings; going on a company offsite; or visiting clients, customers or vendors at the latter’s locations.
- In addition to dealing with clothing, the policy suggests guidelines for footwear, accessories, tattoos, and colour and pattern of attire.
- The policy recommends avoiding attire, footwear, hair and accessories in too bright, flashy and fluorescent colours and patterns at workplace.
- It includes guidelines on grooming, cleanliness and personal hygiene to ensure employees present themselves well while representing Sharekhan.
- It also clearly mentions what is considered as inappropriate dressing in the workplace.
All reporting managers are responsible for ensuring that their respective team members adhere to the policy.
In case of any doubt, stick to formal attire.
The company management reserves the right to determine what constitutes appropriate attire.
If you need any clarifications, reach out to your line manager or Human Resource Business Partner.
Thank you.
