Block leave = When it is cool to say “no” to work

August 6, 2020

Dear Sheru,

Block leave is a must for us Sherus whether we work from home or office location. In view of the lockdown triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, the BNP Paribas Group has revised its block leave policy this year, reducing the length of the block leave to five consecutive working days from the usual ten consecutive working days.

Block leave, as you know by now, is compulsory and must be taken before December 31 every year. However, all those who are working from home are requested to avail of their block leave over the next three months this year to allow those critical employees who are working from office in the lockdown to go on block leave in the remaining two months.

The purpose of the block leave is two-fold: Risk control for the management and a sabbatical for the staff. You may think of it as five uninterrupted days of relaxation, a great chance to reinvigorate yourself. Working from home and working for home must not be easy, after all. Go on, plan your block leave today.

How to take a block leave in 2 easy steps:

  1. Discuss with your line manager and freeze the dates of the proposed block leave.
  2. Mail a block leave request mentioning the agreed dates to blockleave@sharekhan.com and apply for it on ShareKonnect before August 17, 2020.

*It is mandatory for all staff of Sharekhan who joined before December 31, 2019 to avail of a block leave in 2020.
