The benchmark indices were trading lower on February 01, 2026. after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman raised securities transaction tax (STT) on Futures and Options (F&O) trade in Union Budget 2026. FM Sitharaman has raised STT on Future trades to 0.05% from 0.02% under Budget 2026. At 1.08 pm, Sensex fell by 0.75% or 602 points to 81,676. The Nifty dipped by 0.84% or 211 points to 25,121.
All the sectoral indices are trading lower.
