Midday Report- Sensex down 1,300 points, Nifty below 24,450

The benchmark indices extended their losses on March 04, 2026, as escalating conflict between the US-Israel alliance and Iran, which has triggered a massive global sell-off and a spike in energy prices. The markets remained under intense pressure, though they slightly recovered from their steepest opening lows in noon session. All the sectoral indices were trading in the red. At 1.08 pm, Sensex slipped by 1.61% or 1300 points to 78,941. The Nifty dipped by 1.72% or 428 points to 24,437.

The Indian Rupee has slumped to a record low, breaching the 92/$ mark. Brent crude has surged toward $83–$85 per barrel.
