Armour Polymers Limited was incorporated on 1st June, 1989 as a Private Limited Company in the State of Maharashtra and the Company became a Public Limited Company with effect from 3rd March, 1990. Armour Chemicals Limited, the Promoter Company was founded by Dr Atma B Gupta, a technocrat with extensive experience in teaching and research, both in India and abroad. The company set up its manufacturing facilities at Ankleshwar in 1984 at an investment of Rs 16 lacs for manufacture of Ampicillin Trihydrate and Amoxycillin Trihydrate. By 1991 the company has achieved a turnover of Rs 47 crores with a post-tax profit of Rs 1.84 crores. Today, Armour Chemicals Ltd. exports about 70% of its production to European countries, USSR and China. Today Amour Chemicals Ltd. is one of the major producers of several sterile bulk drugs in India and is well known for its innovative R & D and short gestation period of up-scaling the technology in various chemical processes. Armour Chemicals Ltd is the flagship company of the Armour Group which has a combined turnover of Rs. 65 crores. Apart from Armour Chemicals Ltd., the group includes 1. Vista Organics (P) Ltd, is one of the major producers of Pyrazinamide, an anti-TB drug in India. It also manufactures INH, another anti-TB drug, Niacin, Niacinamide, Vitamin and feed supplements, Erythromycin, the well known antibiotic and Zinc picolinate for exports. Its factory is located at Mandideep, Madhya Pradesh. 2. Armour Biotech (P) Ltd. has been recently formed to market Formulated pharmaceuticals. It has the distinction of having a wide range of anti-cancer drugs in its spectrum of activity. 3. Armour International is the export arm of the Armour Group and specializes in international marketing. 4. Vista Finance and Leasing (P) Ltd. and Ushma Investment (P) Ltd are new companies promoted for the purpose of carrying out leasing, investment and financing activities. These companies have recently acquired property which they intend leasing to companies within as well as outside the group. Their proposed participation in the equity of Armour Polymers Ltd will mark the beginning of their investment activities. 2012 -Mr. L. R. Daga has been appointed as additional director of the Company.
