Midday Update- Markets down as global tensions spark

The benchmark indices trade lower on May 11, 2026, as surging crude oil prices, coupled with geopolitical tensions, dampened investor sentiment. Brent crude surged toward $100/barrel, raising concerns over import costs for India. Continued selling by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) has pressured the market. Banking, PSU Banks, Oil & Gas, Realty, and Metals were among the key sectors experiencing selling pressure. At 1.12 pm, Sensex fell by 1.15% or 895 points to 76,434. The Nifty dipped by 0.98% or 237 points to 23,942.
