Indian indices-

After starting the day with strong gains, Indian stock markets closed volatility session in red on April 16, 2026. The late-session selling pressure led the markets to closed lower. At close, the Sensex was down 122.56 points or 0.16% at 77,988.68. The Nifty was down 34.55 points or 0.14% at 24,196.75.

Rupee ended at 93.20/$ against April 15 close of 93.37/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Refex Industries rose 1.92% to Rs. 244.40, after it has secured an order from a Maharatna public sector undertaking (PSU) for the transportation of pond ash to NHAI and PWD road construction sites.

2. Pace Digitek rose 2.95% to Rs. 172.80, after the company, along with its subsidiaries, reported robust order inflows of Rs. 6,459.7 crore for FY2026, driven by strong momentum in its energy business.

Global Signals-

Japan’s Nikkei 225 hit an all-time high amid a broader rally in Asia markets, tracking overnight gains on Wall Street, as hopes of a US-Iran deal rose.

European stocks rose as UK GDP jumped and Iran peace talks remain in focus.
