Post Market Update- Sensex plunges 961 points, Nifty slumps below 25,200

Indian indices-

The benchmark indices ended sharply lower by 1.2% on February 27, 2026, tracking weak global cues and fresh foreign fund outflows. Among sectors, auto, bank, FMCG, metal, realty, telecom shed 1-2%, while IT, media, consumer durables ended in the green. The focus now shifts to the India Q3 GDP data being released this evening. At close, the Sensex was down 961.42 points or 1.17% at 81,287.19, and the Nifty was down 317.90 points or 1.25% at 25,178.65.

Rupee ended at 90.98/$ against February 26, 2026, close of 90.91/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Fusion Finance down 7.76% to Rs. 187.75, L&T Finance fell 5.22% to Rs. 284.35, after Bihar assembly passes bill regulating MFIs & small lender.

2. Sarda Energy & Minerals rose 6.54% to Rs. 552.35, after the Supreme Court cleared the path for the acquisition of SKS Power Generation.

Global Signals-

Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed, after US stocks declined overnight as Nvidia shares tumbled despite a quarterly earnings beat.

European markets were also mixed as traders parsed through several earnings reports and economic data at the end of the week.
