A gap-up start for benchmarks

Easing crude oil prices, strong results from Accenture, positive global cues and the appointment of a new CEO at HDFC Bank are among the key factors influencing investor sentiment.

The Indian rupee opened 10 paise higher at 96.22 against the US dollar, compared with Thursday's close of 96.32.

Wall Street ended higher on Friday, led by gains in technology stocks, with the Dow rising 0.5%, the S&P 500 gaining 0.7%, and the Nasdaq advancing 1.2%. Nvidia also hit a fresh record high.

US jobs data came in weaker than expected, while Treasury yields remained elevated. Oil prices eased, with Brent crude closing near $102 a barrel. Asian markets traded mixed on Monday, with Japan's Nikkei higher, while mainland China and South Korea remained shut for holidays.
