Market Report- Markets trade lower amid global tension fears

Indian stock markets were trading lower on, May 5, 2026, primarily weighed down by escalating geopolitical tensions and a sharp spike in crude oil prices. At 9.32 am, Sensex fell by 0.32% or 268 points to 77,017. The Nifty slipped by 0.37% or 88 points to 24,030.

Rupee hits all-time low as oil surge amplifies pressure. Rupee opened at 95.31/$ Vs. May 04 close of 95.09/$ and near record low of 95.33/$.
