Midday Report- Broad-based buying lift market despite weak IT

Indian markets have strengthened their position in the afternoon session on April 17, 2026, led by broad-based buying. Except IT all other sectors were trading in green. At 1.06 pm, Sensex rose by 0.31% or 243 points to 78,231. The Nifty gained 0.31% or 75 points to 24,272.
