Buying interest was broad-based, with banking, financial, auto, and IT stocks leading the gains and strengthening rupee further boosted investor sentiment. At close, the Sensex was up 2,008.61 points or 2.60% at 79,310.01, and the Nifty was up 576.00 points or 2.40% at 24,536.60.
