Indian indices-

Indian equities snapped their four-session losing streak on October 5, 2026, ending firmly higher on the back of broad-based buying across sectors. Positive global cues and improving investor sentiment aided the recovery from recent weakness, with the Sensex and Nifty closing significantly higher after a volatile trading session. Except pharma, all other sectoral indices ended in the green. At close, the Sensex was up 472.77 points or 0.66% at 72,382.47, and the Nifty was up 133.80 points or 0.60% at 22,555.75.

Rupee closed at 96.29/$ Vs. October 01, 2026, close of 96.32/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services rose 1.39% to Rs. 324.55, after the company provided an update on its business performance for Q2 FY27.

2. Transformers and Rectifiers (India) (TARIL) gained 1.43% to Rs. 284.60, after the company received two separate domestic orders from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO).

Asian markets traded higher, tracking positive global cues and improved risk sentiment among investors.

European markets were mixed, with gains in broader regional indices offset by weakness in French equities amid fiscal concerns.
