Indian stock markets are trading largely flat with marginal gains on August 21, 2026, as investors remained cautious amid mixed global cues, elevated oil prices, and rising bond yields. Majority of index heavyweights were in red. The topmost index heavyweights were Power Grid Corporation Ltd, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, Bharat Electronics Ltd, HDFC Bank Ltd, Bajaj Finserv Ltd. At 1.13 pm, Sensex rose by 0.07% or 48 points to 77,583. The Nifty gained 0.05% or 15 points to 24,246.
Asian markets were trading mixed, with South Korea's KOSPI and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gaining while Japan's Nikkei remains slightly lower.
European markets were showing a mixed-to-firm trend.
