Post Market Update- Markets close flat in choppy trade

Indian indices-

The benchmark indices ended largely flat after a volatile trading session on August 21, as gains in selected sectors were offset by profit booking and cautious investor sentiment. The buying was seen in metal, PSU Bank and realty, while selling seen in the auto, IT, media and pharma names. The broader indices were mixed. At close, the Sensex was up 3.11 points at 77,540.83, and the Nifty was up 20.15 points or 0.08% at 24,252.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. JBM Auto surged 6.28% to Rs. 662.50, on reports of Bain Capital mulling investment of Rs. 2,850 cr in JBM's EV subsidiary.

2. Shanthi Gears jumped 20% to Rs. 465.35, after Tube Investments of India acquired additional stake in company.

3. Bajel Project gained 5.98% to Rs. 191.50, after the company said that its joint venture entity AnantGrid Projects One (AGPOPL) has emerged as the successful bidder for the Lakadia–Part A inter-state transmission project in Gujarat.

4. Walchandnagar Industries rose 1.25% to Rs. 226.55, after the company received an order worth Rs. 30.53 crore from the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) for the supply of HS200 Motorcase for the Gaganyaan mission.

5. Zodiac Energy advanced 2.33% to Rs. 250.85, after securing order for 2,500 Kwp solar plant.

Global Signals-

Asian stocks mostly rose as South Korea leads rebound; Nikkei set for weekly loss.

European markets edged higher as investors assessed economic data and corporate earnings.
