Indian indices-

Indian equities ended sharply lower on October 08, 2026, as investor sentiment remained weak following the RBI's hawkish monetary policy stance and concerns over rising global yields. The decline was driven by concerns over tighter monetary conditions, elevated crude oil prices and weak global cues. Broad-based selling was witnessed across sectors, weighing heavily on benchmark indices. The Sensex was down 1,045.46 points or 1.44% at 71,593.24, and the Nifty was down 371.25 points or 1.64 percent at 22,231.80.

Rupee closed unchanged at 96.78/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Fino Payments Bank surged 11.53% to Rs. 143.15, after the company’s average total deposits jumped 13% to Rs 2794 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 2,480 crore in Q2 FY26.

2. One 97 Communications fell 5.42% to Rs. 1,640, after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) disclosed that Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL) had been excluded from the Second Schedule to the RBI Act, 193.

3. Senco Gold gained 2.94% to Rs. 331, after the jewellery retailer reported 29% year-on-year growth in retail revenue in Q2 FY27, supported by festive demand and strong same-store sales growth.
