Indian indices-
The Indian stock market ended in the red on Thursday, May 7, 2026, following a volatile session. The Sensex and Nifty, which opened higher on global cues, reversed course during the session, dragged down by weakness in banking, FMCG, and select heavyweight stocks. Broader indices also slipped, reflecting investor caution ahead of key corporate earnings and global developments. Among sectors, selling pressure was seen in FMCG, IT, PSU Bank and consumer durable stocks, while buying interest emerged in auto, defence, media, defence, metal counters. At close, the Sensex was down 114 points or 0.15% at 77,844.52, and the Nifty was down 4.30 points or 0.02% at 24,326.65.
Rupee ended at 94.25/$ against May 06 close of 94.61/$.
Buzzing stocks on BSE-
1. IIFL Capital 1.81% to Rs. 464, after board approved issuing of shares on a prefrential basis to Fairfax.
2. Bajaj Auto 2.83% to Rs. 10,606.75, after the company reported 34% jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,746.13 crore in Q4 FY26 over Q4 FY25.
3. CG Power and Industrial Solutions rose 3.54% to Rs. 860.65 after the company reported a 32% jump in consolidated net profit to Rs. 362 crore in Q4 FY26 over Q4 FY25.
4. Indoco Remedies surged 8.73% to Rs. 247.85, after the company reported a standalone net profit of Rs. 27.35 crore in Q4 FY26 compared with a net loss of Rs. 26.24 crore in Q4 FY25.
