Post Market Update- Markets end flat first day of CY26

Stocks in the news-

1. Kalpataru Projects, along with JV gets new order worth Rs. 719 cr for a metro rail project in Maharashtra.

2. Apollo Micro defence arm secured contract worth Rs. 150 cr.

3. KEC Intl bagged orders worth Rs. 1,050 cr across various businesses

Indian indices-

Despite a strong start on January 01, 2026, the Indian stock markets indeed finished the first day of 2026 on a flat to cautious note. At close, the Sensex was down 32 points or 0.04% at 85,188.60. The Nifty was up 16.95 points or 0.06% at 26,146.55.

Rupee ended at 89.96/$ against December 31 close of 89.87/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Blue Dart Express rose 2.81% to Rs. 5,676.40, after tax authorities largely dropped a Rs 420.78 crore GST demand on its subsidiary Blue Dart Aviation.

2. Pace Digitek added 1.41% to Rs 191.20 after its material subsidiary, Lineage Power, has received an advance purchase order worth Rs 94.35 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL).
