Indian indices-
Indian equities ended near the flatline on July 16, 2025, after a rangebound session. The markets recovered their losses as gains in PSU banks and IT stocks helped to closed in green. Among sectors, metal index shed 0.6%, while realty, auto, FMCG, IT, PSU Bank and media indices added 0.5-1.8%. BSE Midcap rose 0.10% and smallcap indices gained 0.28%. At close, the Sensex was up 63.57 points or 0.08% at 82,634.48. The Nifty was up 16.25 points or 0.06% at 25,212.05.
Rupee ended at 85.94/$ against July 15 close of 85.81/$.
Buzzing stocks on BSE-
1. Biocon gained 1.11% to Rs. 394.55, after the company's subsidiary firm, Biocon Biologics, received US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) approval for its diabetes drug, Insulin Aspart, marketed as Kirsty.
2. Centrum Capital down 2.05% to Rs. 39.21, after the company's board approved a proposal to raise Rs. 172.56 crore through a preferential issue.
