Post Market Update- Markets end in red on weak global cues

Stocks in the news-

1. KP Energy received inter-state electricity trading licence from CERC.

2. L&T bagged significant order in the range of Rs. 1,000-2,500 cr for buildings & factories biz.

3. Patel Engineering declared L1 bidder for Rs. 1,593 crore Nepal hydropower project.

Earnings-

1. Delta Corp Q4 Consolidated net profit plunged 90% YoY to Rs. 16.45 crore.

Indian indices-

Indian equities closed lower on April 23, 2026, as selling intensified across the board. Market breadth remained weak. The surge in crude oil prices, foreign fund outflows and weak global cues also weighed on markets. Majority of the sector ended in red. At close, the Sensex was down 852.49 points or 1.09% at 77,664, and the Nifty was down 205.05 points or 0.84% at 24,173.05.

Rupee ended at 94.10/$ against April 22 close of 93.80/$.

1. GE Vernova T&D India rose 6.05% to Rs. 4,497.05, after parent co raises CY26 guidance across all segments & metrics.

2. Cipla gained 5.74% to Rs. 1,305.85, after USFDA nod for generic Ventolin inhaler.

Global Signals-

Asian markets closed lower amid worries that the Middle East conflict could drag on.

European stocks traded lower as regional market sentiment remains downbeat and oil prices tick higher.
