Earnings-

1. IREDA Q4 net profit up 48.7% YoY at Rs. 501.6 Cr.

2. Swaraj Engines Q4 net profit rose 29% YoY at Rs. 45.4 Cr.

Indian indices-

Indian stock markets closed higher for the third straight day on April 16, 2025, powered by strong buying in banking and financial names. Among sectors, except auto, capital goods and IT all other indices ended in the green. BSE Midcap rose by 0.62% and smallcap indices gained 0.91%. At close, the Sensex was up 309.40 points or 0.40% at 77,044.29, and the Nifty was up 108.65 points or 0.47% at 23,437.20.

Rupee ended at 85.68/$ against April 15, 2025, close of 85.77/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Gensol Engineering Ltd. (GEL) hit 5% lower circuit at Rs. 123.65, after the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) passed an interim order against the firm and its promoters.

2. Mahanagar Gas (MGL) fell 4.79% to Rs. 1,252.90, after disclosing a significant cut in its allocation of APM (Administered Price Mechanism) natural gas.

3. ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company gained 3.15% to Rs. 585.50, after its standalone net profit surged by 122.31% to Rs 386.29 crore in Q4 FY25 as against Rs 173.76 crore posted in Q4 FY24.

4. Max India jumped 7.44% to Rs. 217.45, after the company announced plans to raise up to Rs. 125 crores through a rights issue of equity shares with a face value of Rs. 10 each.

Asia-Pacific markets mostly fell as trade war worries dent sentiment.

European markets were trading in red as uncertainty over the direction of US trade tariffs continued to dent sentiment.
