Post Market Update- Sensex down 296 points, Nifty below 24,800

Stocks in the news-

1. HUL Q1 net profit up 7.64% YoY at Rs. 2,732 Cr.

2. Jubilant Ingrevia Q1 net profit rose 53% YoY at Rs. 75 Cr.

3. Dr Lal Path Labs Q1 net profit gained 24% at Rs. 132 Cr.

4. Ambuja Cement Q1 net profit advanced 23.50% YoY at Rs. 967 Cr

Indian indices-

The benchmark indices failed to hold intra-day recovery and closed in the red on July 31, 2025, following US President Donald Trump's announcement of a 25% tariff on Indian exports. Most of the sectors ended in red. BSE Midcap and smallcap indices shed 0.7% each. At close, the Sensex was down 296.28 points or 0.36% at 81,185.58. The Nifty was down 86.70 points or 0.35% at 24,768.35.

Rupee ended at 87.60/$ against July 30 close of 87.42/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Orchid Pharma hit 5% upper circuit at Rs. 740.10, on buyback of rights to novel antibiotic.

2. Jio Financial Services rose 2.87% to Rs. 329.40, as board approved Rs. 15,825 crores fundraise via warrants.

3. Punjab National Bank fell 2.50% to Rs. 105.40, after Q1 profit dropped 48% YoY to Rs. 1,675 crores for the Quarter ended June 30, 2025.

Global Signals-

Asia-Pacific markets mostly fell as investors assess BOJ rate decision and fresh tariffs on India, South Korea.

European markets were lower. DAX down 0.01%, CAC 40 down 0.26%, FTSE 100 up 0.37%
