Market Report- Markets begin year 2026 with gains

The benchmark indices were trading higher on January 01, 2026, the first trading session of the calendar year 2026 (CY26). Most of the sectoral indices were trading in green. At 9.36 am, Sensex rose by 0.17% or 167 points to 85,365. The Nifty gained 0.14% or 38 points to 26,169.
