Market Update- Sensex down 600 points, Nifty below 22,400

Indian stock markets declined at the day's low on October 1, 2026, as broad-based selling weighed on sentiment. Investors remained cautious despite softer crude oil prices, while weakness in heavyweight stocks kept the benchmark indices under pressure. Rupee weakens against US dollar, now at day's low, at 96.07/$; while Brent turns positive, back above $98/bbl. At 12.47 pm, Sensex slipped by 0.96% or 604 points to 71,871. The Nifty dipped by 0.85% or 223 points to 22,397.
