Indian stock markets remained firmly in positive territory on July 17, with benchmark indices trading near intraday highs. The gains were supported by buying in private banks, IT stocks, and selected heavyweight shares. Market breadth remained positive, indicating broader participation in the rally. At 12.52 pm, Sensex rose by 0.86% or 802 points to 77,990. The Nifty gained 1.04% or 209 points to 24,280.
