Stocks in the news-

1. Insolation Energy arm signed MoU with Bondada Engg for supply of solar modules.

2. L&T bagged large order worth Rs. 2,500-5,000 cr for hydrocarbon onshore business.

3. Ahluwalia Contracts gets Central Vista Project Division-12 contract worth Rs. 3,070 cr from CPWD.

4. Bharat Forge secured order worth Rs. 300 cr under emergency procurement for indigenous unmanned systems.

Indian indices-

The benchmark indices ended with gains on January 16, 2026, buoyed by gains in IT stocks, following Infosys' third quarter (Q3 FY26) earnings report and raised its full-year revenue growth guidance. The markets also gave up their gains in late trade as selling pressure was intensified among index heavyweights. At end, Sensex rose by 0.23% or 187.64 points to 83,570.35. The Nifty gained 0.11% or 28.75 points to 25,694.35.

Indian rupee recorded biggest one day fall in nearly two months, ends at 90.87/$ against January 14 close of 90.30/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Cipla down 2.55% to Rs. 1,397.95, after the pharmaceutical company temporarily paused the production of key drug Lanreotide.

2. Federal Bank jumped 9.50% to Rs. 270.35, after company reported its Q3 net profit rose by 9% YoY to Rs. 1,041 crores for the Quarter ended December 31, 2025.

4. Nelco tanked 4.10% to Rs. 674, after the company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs. 1.19 crore in Q3 FY26, compared with a net profit of Rs. 4.95 crore in Q3 FY25.

Global Signals-

Asian chip stocks climbed lifting several regional markets even as broader Asia-Pacific trade remained mixed.

European stocks inched higher as Greenland remained in focus.
