Post Market Update- Sensex gains 371 points, Nifty nears 25,000

Indian indices-

Indian equities ended fourth straight day with gains on August 19, as buying was seen among majority of the index heavyweights. Among sectors, except pharma, all other sectoral indices ended in the green. The BSE midcap and smallcap indices rose 1% each. At close, the Sensex was up 370.64 points or 0.46% at 81,644.39. The Nifty was up 103.70 points or 0.42% at 24,980.65.

Rupee ended at 86.96/$ against August 18 close of 87.35/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Hexaware Technologies up 2.39% to Rs. 746.35, after partnership with upGrad to power Phase 2 of AI workforce.

2. Inox Wind rose 3.18% to Rs. 144.40, after company entered agreement to divest Rs. 175 Cr stake in subsidiary Inox Green Energy Services.

3. Vedanta gained 2.75% to Rs. 450.15, after announcing board will consider second interim dividend on August 21.

Global Signals-

Asia-Pacific markets closed lower, tracking Wall Street declines overnight ahead of the US Federal Reserve meeting later this week.

European stocks edged higher as global markets reacted positively to the outcome of talks between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders at the White House on Monday.
